Ep #46: Rock Spring Grazing Association v. Wild Horses: Interview with Debbie Coffey
December 16, 2024As we reflect on the year, I’m excited to revisit one of my favorite episodes with you. Whether you’re relaxing with loved ones or carving out a little time for yourself, this episode offers something truly special.
Back in April 2004, I traveled to Wyoming to witness the wild horses. From the passenger seat of a pickup truck, I journeyed down a dusty road outside Baggs, Wyoming, surrounded by a landscape of sagebrush and rugged rock formations. It was there, in the vastness of Adobe Town, that I truly came to appreciate the wild beauty and resilience of these majestic creatures.
In today’s episode, we explore the story of wild horses—a tale of beauty, struggle, and perseverance. Through my photographs, book, and advocacy work, I strive to showcase their splendor and raise awareness of their plight, inspiring support for their protection. As stewards of this legacy, it’s our responsibility to safeguard their freedom, their family bonds, and their rightful place in America’s wilderness for generations to come. These incredible animals, symbols of resilience and family, deserve to roam free on the public lands they call home.

Excellent program and so enjoyed your fine descriptions of going out to these the harmonious and beautiful wild horses in Wyoming. Also very much in agreement with your complaints about the outrageous treatment of these national heritage species, who are also deeply rooted North American Natives. Yes they are real survivors and well adapted to the Wyoming prairie and other ecotypes throughout the West and elsewhere in North America but there is a real war being waged against them and grossly unfair and unjust and illegal that we must overcome for the horses sake — and burros too — and for our own! Happy and Progressive New Year! We can Win for the Wild Horses in the Wild!
