Congress lets down our wild horses – Roundups to resume in July
April 21, 2011Wild Horses – Mica and I touch for the first time
April 22, 2011Wyoming has the second most wild horses in the country, after Nevada. Now the Wyoming horses are under fire again from the BLM.
In October and November of last year, over 2100 wild horses were removed from the Adobe Town and Salt Wells Herd areas in Wyoming. Last month the BLM announced plans to remove 600 more horses from the Red Desert in 5 HMAs. Now the Rock Springs, Wyoming BLM Field office announced that they plan to remove yet another 696 horses from the White Mountain and Little Colorado HMAs in July of this year. This is very early to hold a roundup in Wyoming – this is still foaling season, it will be very hot and dry, and running the pregnant mares and newborn foals as well as foals less than 3 months old with a helicopter guarantees injuries to the horses. Please comment here and make your opinion heard about this cruel and needless roundup: http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/6931/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6498

Im so disgusted all i do is cry when I read the posts of what we are doing to the American Horse. What did I expect ? far to many of us live in the now , greed has taken over compassion how sad and evil.
We are destroying or world and the spirit of love and compassion and beauty EVERY day that we kill and torture a living creature. Please for the sake of our world, our horses and the future of our children STOP THIS MADDNESS NOW!!!

Deborah, I feel the EXACT same way. If people would just stop eating so much cheap burgers…when you’ve got millions and millions of people chomping down on 99 CENT burgers and the demand for more and more! Well, the picture is bleak. We’ve got a nation obsessed with eating empty calories…and Obesity running rampant! I don’t eat beef. BLM needs to be re-vamped. They get more money from leasing land to cattlemen. Wish there were some way we (those who care about the wild horses) could lease the land for the wild horses!
Are all these roundups really necessary? What is this really about? The trauma these horses and burros experience and the deplorable conditions they are kept in after the roundups is absolutely inhumane. We seem to take care of other people all over the world, but can’t seem to care for our animals here at home. We seem to thrive on violence and degradation of things we should hold dear. What kind of nation have we become. First, abuse of animals for greed. Who is next? We need to take a good look at what we are doing, especially the govt., and where we are headed.

It’s about horses eating grazing land that the cattlemen want for there cattle! And the cattlemen pay BLM to lease the land…and the cattlemen don’t want wild horses on the land! So, who do you think the BLM are going to back?
just listened to a very good suggestion to contact the WY tourism board who is using photographs of wild horses to advertise coming to their state – here is contact info: http://www.wyomingtourism.org/QuickProfile.aspx?EntryID=24428
I don’t thihk I can say it any better!
Hey BLM, don’t go away mad, just go away.

my dad luv horses
I recently purchased land in Casper, Wyoming. One of the selling points was the life style. The claim is that it’s like a step back in time – like it was in the good ole days of the wild west. Well, if I’m not mistaken, they valued the wild horses back then. The roundups are cruel and inhumane. I’m just one person, but I am willing to do all I can to try and stop this. The mustangs are not only gorgeous, but brilliant creatures. God bless all who are willing to step-up and take action. Shame on the politically motivated and greedy.
