Carol Walker has been taking photographs since she could hold a camera, and her passion for horses started even earlier. 15 years ago Carol began photographing horses in her business, Living Images by Carol Walker. Carol teaches workshops on horse photography all over the world, and sells her fine art prints in galleries in Colorado. Twelve years ago she made her first trip to the Red Desert of Wyoming and she fell in love with the wild horses of Adobe Town. A year later, she found out that most of these horses that she had been following and photographing were going to be rounded up with helicopters and removed from their freedom and their homes. This began her now twelve year journey as a wild horse advocate committed to keeping America’s wild horses where they belong, in the wild, with their families. Carol sees photography as a powerful tool for advocacy and for change. She is the Director of Field Documentation for Wild Horse Freedom Federation. In this evening presentation, she describe the families and behaviors or wild horses, will discuss the situation facing America’s wild horses right now and why they belong on our public lands. She will discuss about how you can help them. She will also talk about where to go to see and to photograph wild horses in Colorado. Her slideshow set to music featuring the Adobe Town wild horse herd she has been following for the past 11 years will move and inspire you.
After the lecture, Carol will have copies of her new book new book Galloping to Freedom: Saving the Adobe Town Appaloosas for sale. The book is about saving 10 wild horses from Adobe Town and their journey to be reunited with their families at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary. These will be for sale and she will sign and personalize them for you. Sales of her books and artwork help pay for her efforts to preserve our wild horses.
