A Tribute to Washakie, Wild Stallion of McCullough Peaks
February 9, 2023Ep #1: Discovering Wild Horses
March 6, 2023Introducing Freedom for Wild Horses with Carol J. Walker!
Welcome to Freedom for Wild Horses with Carol J. Walker!
I’m Carol, and I love everything about wild horses.
I have spent the last 19 years following, observing, documenting, and photographing them on our public lands in America, but that’s not enough. I have been working as a wild horse advocate to save them because they are under threat by the very government agency that has been tasked to protect them.
I created this podcast for people who love wildlife, wild horses, and the freedom they stand for, and will be providing stories and education about the horses and the issues facing them so that you can help.
If you want to learn more about why wild horses deserve a place on our public lands, why we need the tonic of their wildness in our lives, the threats they are facing from the agency that manages them, and what you can do to help, this show is for you.
I’ll be diving deeper into these topics and many more, interviewing advocates and experts in this space, and showing you why keeping these horses wild and free on our public lands is vital, so that together, we can save America’s wild horses.

Been following Carol as a photographer for over a decade, and she is a true advocate for wild horses. So excited that she now has a podcast!
This was so good, heart wrenching to listen to and so emotionally beautiful all in the same! I’ve been following the Wild Mustangs supportively for 3yrs and I’m so attached and determined to help in some way. I’ve never owned a horse but have always drawn and painted them. I absolutely loved the story you tell of these very important Icons of America! I won’t see them lost!
Amazing job Carol. This was fantastic. I can’t wait to listen to the others. Thank you so much for this. I am in Maryland so you brought me into your world of horses.i have shared it also.
I purchased five of Carols photos of a paint horse(Picasso?) that she captured so well. Now I need to frame them and put them up on a wall.
I have been following Carol for over a year now. Her pictures, podcasts and website are a excellent and valuable resource for keeping up to date on the wild horses of the Red Desert. I admire her determination to keep the horses wild and free and appreciate all that she does !! Her podcasts have such great detail and are so very wonderful!
This is a “must listen to” podcast for anyone who cares about wild horses on US public lands. I have followed Carol Walker’s work through the years and was thrilled to finally meet her in person at the 2023 Equine Affaire in Ohio. Thank you very much, Carol, for letting me know about this podcast. I have listened to the first three episodes and looking forward to future ones.
