White Mountain Herd – Not Just the Roundup
July 25, 2024Thor 2025 Wild Horse Calendar
August 2, 2024For the past three weeks, the Bureau of Land Management has been rounding up and removing wild horses from the North Lander Complex in Wyoming. This roundup started on July 1st and will likely wrap up in the next couple of days as they are close to their goal for removal.
This was my 20th roundup as an observer, and it was the first time they scheduled it for July. Usually Wyoming roundups start in October or later. This was a really terrible scheduling issue because most of the mares had foaled, or in some cases, foaling was still going strong. Making lots of little babies and pregnant mares run from a helicopter should never have happened.
So, why observe? Because the contractors are more careful with the horses when members of the public are there, and so are the BLM staff. We can stand for and with the horses and bear witness to what is happening to them. We can report violations in procedure. There are fewer injuries and deaths. Our wild horses need to be managed on our public lands where they belong, and I will keep observing and standing for them until this barbaric and inhumane practice is abolished. I hope you will join me, in any way you are able.

Government is too big! The horses do not hurt anyone. My goal is to be retired next and I want to get involved in what you are doing Carol.
Thanks so much for being there to witness this atrocity against the wild and naturally living horses, Carol! Greatly appreciate your podcast and urge people to show up and bear witness to this extreme and cruel injustice. People got to learn to share the land and freedom with the wild horses at truly long term viable population levels in complete and long term viable habitats by respecting the true natures of the horses and burros and the sound principles of Reserve Design and Rewilding and conscientiously implementing them!
This information is so disturbing. Rounding up the wild horses with helicopters 🚁. The whole process is pure Evil. VERY Disturbing!!!! I guess the BLM n contractors..The Catours N private landowner certainly DO want to hide these shameful deeds from the public’s eye. I really don’t know how these people sleep at Night. Such inhumane treatment blatant animal abuse of innocent wild horses that are causing NO harm at all the environment and public lands where they live.
The Saddest Thing Ever. This is NOT Acceptable.
