Ep #34: Wild Curly Horses
June 10, 2024Ep #36: Protecting the Salt River Wild Horses: Interview with Simone Netherlands
July 8, 2024Today’s episode serves as an update for the continuing litigation against the BLM. The BLM has plans to zero out herds in one area, reduce herd size in another area, and do a land grab spurred by the Rock Springs Grazing Association. To discuss this, I’m joined by the executive director of American Wild Horse Campaign, Suzanne Roy.
Suzanne is a 25-year animal welfare professional. During her career, she has worked to improve the plight of elephants, chimpanzees, marine mammals, and other animals, both in captivity and in the wild. In 2009, she turned her attention to the fight to save America’s wild horses and burros.
Listen in this week to find out how you can help with this very important, and perhaps the most significant, litigation issue brought against the BLM by the American Wild Horse Campaign. Roughly 2,000 horses and 40% of wild horse habitat in Wyoming are at stake, and that’s just the start. Suzanne and I recount the history, the parties involved, and the decisions that led to this action.

Thanks for rerunning this moving interview about the fate of the Checkerboard horses that affects us all. When was it first recorded? The information I’d really like to have would be more details on status and tenets of the AWHC lawsuit; and — most urgently — what you want supporters to do about the gather/zero out EA that’s now out for public comments, with a deadline of July 8.
Id love to listin in .
